Trick or Treat!

I'm getting ready for the kids who will be trick or treating later tonight; just heading out the door to buy candy (hope there's some left lol) and the hubs and DS2 are just starting to decorate the front of the house. Here's one of two Halloween mani's I have left to share!

Started with a base of one coat of CND Green Scene and two of SpaRitual Positive Vibe.

I had received the Pahlish  the day I did this mani and was anxious to use them; so did a sponged gradient using Pahlish Sour Caramel Apple and Pahlish Marshallow Pumpkin.

Added coat of Girly Bits What A Rush QD TC before stamping.

Stamped with assortment of plates; MoYou Festive Collection-16 (thumb and index), Messy Mansion MM22 (ring), Chez Halloween 001 (middle) and Apipila P.19 (pinky) using Funky Fingers Dark Knight.

Added a few bats to the thumb, index and middle using MoYou Festive Collection-16.  Tried to make scary eyes on thumb and index; not sure if I succeeded lol!

Top coated with Girly Bits What A Rush QD TC to finish.

Ended up adding a coat of top coat instead.

I was really happy with Frankenstein here on my thumb; he's my favourite finger here.  I wanted to do whole mani using Frankenstein images; maybe sometime.

40 Great Nail Art Ideas - Halloween!

This weeks theme for 40 Great Nail Art Ideas is Halloween; how appropriate as it's tomorrow lol!  This is a pretty simple design by my favourite Halloween mani this year for sure!  Here's what I came up with!

This was my inspiration; a hand towel I bought a couple weeks ago at Marshalls!

Started with a base of two coats of Sinful Colors Burn Rubber; no topcoat.  This is a textured polish but unfortunately didn't have as much texture as I would have liked.

Stamped using Born Pretty BP-L013 using Funky Fingers Gesso.

Added pumpkin faces using an image from Chez Halloween 002 using Funky Fingers Dark Knight.  Considering this was a mani that I could not get the clear jelly stamper to work and I placed these images by regular stamping method, I was thrilled how well I lined them up; the middle is slightly off but other than that, I thought I did ok! (I couldn't understand why the stamper wouldn't work when I had used it so many times with no issues and then all of a sudden had problems; this is when I discovered if you roll the image with a good amount of pressure, it will pick up.  I retried this image and got it to work OK after that.)

Added a coat of top coat to finish.

Please excuse terribly bad cuticles, but this was my right hand; I think I lined it up better that my left hand lol!

A Darker Halloween Mani

It seems like I've been wearing a lot of orange, yellow, red; those typical fall and Halloween colours.  I was feeling a little bit on the dark side when I sat down to do a Halloween mani not a couple nights ago...or anything not yellow, red and orange...this is what I came up with!

Started with a base of two coats of Misa Working Hard or Hardly Working.  No pix as it just wasn't good application or clean up.  Then did a gradient using same Misa polish and Barry M Grey and Funky Fingers Dark Knight.

Topped with Girly Bits What A Rush QD TC before stamping.

Added assortment of images using assortment of plates; Bundle Monster BM-H07 (thumb), MoYou Gothic Collection-12 (index and middle) Chez Halloween 005 (ring) and Chez Halloween 002 (pinky).  The black stamping polish used was Funky Fingers Dark Knight, the light grey on index and top of middle was MdU 33 and the middle skulls, which are a little darker, are a custom colour I did on the plate using a mixture of Mdu 33 and FF Dark Knight.

MoYou Gothic Collection-12

Added a couple roses from Delaney Roses 001 using Essence Do You Speak Love? using clear jelly stamper for placement.

Delaney Roses 001

As happy as I was with how the gradient turned out.....cause, so cool!....I was disappointed that the black gradient was so dark and went so low on the nail as I had preplanned using the headstones at the tips and wanted to have a crow over it abnd I guess I got carried away!   Still wanted wanted to place something there to fill the void; I ended up stamping it in using Barry M Grey (and clear jelly stamper) which I thought turned out kinda cool and spooky shadow looking so in the end, didn't mind it it at all.  I think it might be my favorite finger, followed closely by the thumb.  I didn't like how the scroll on the middle finger had a void at the top so hand filled in some swirls using paint brush. The crow is from MoYou Gothic Collection-07.

Top coated using Girly Bits What a Rush QD TC to finish.

Thought a matte coat might be more sinister looking so top coated it with OPI matte.  (Looks like a need a new bottle of it; I can see white flakies in it, bummer.)

I thought it was absolutely hilarious that when I applied the matte, I missed the very top edge of the nails at the cuticle on absolutely every finger...but kinda gave it a frame effect lol.  I did add a second coat, trying to get better to the edge.

I really liked how this turned out; something a little darker for Halloween!

Kirk Steele by CANVAS lacquer

CANVAS lacquer recently released their Broad City collection; they were good enough to send a few of them to me for review so I'll be sharing them over the next few days.

I immediately fell for Kirk Steele CANVAS lacquer as it is right up my alley; blue, holo and microglitter....seems it was made with me in mind lol!

Started with a base of two coats of Kirk Steele by CANVAS lacquer, no top coat.  This is full of blue holo microglitter with silver microfleck shimmer in a blue jelly base according to their description on Etsy.  While the site recommends three coats, I did two coats and had good coverage.

Kirk Steele by CANVAS lacquer dries to a very slight matte and really shines with top coat; so added GirlyBits What a Rush QD TC before stamping.  Even though the polish is full of microglitter, I didn't find it glitter thirsty or the need to add a layer of Gelous or use specif glitter thirsty toppers; it was smooth to the touch and one coat of top coat as normal was fine.

I purposely picked a stamp that would allow the beauty of the polish shine through; stamped using Born Pretty BP-L015 using Funky Fingers Gesso.

Top coated with GirlyBits What a Rush QD TC to finish.  Thanks to UNT Peelable basecoat, removal was a breeze!

CANVAS lacquer is avialable via their etsy shop here; they ship worldwide to select countries.

40 Great Nail Art Ideas - Orange, Purple & Green Half and Half

This week's challenge theme for 40 Great Nail Art Ideas is orange, purple and green and my added challenge of half and half.  With Halloween around the corner, and orange, purple and green being great to use for Halloween mani's, I thought I would turn it into something Halloween related; this is what I came up with!

Started with a trio of Colors by llarowe polishes; All Jack'd Up, Seahawks Lime and Hyacinth Bouquet; all two coats.

Top coated with Girly Bits What A Rush QD TC before stamping.

Stamped using MoYou Festive Collection-16 (middle, index and ring), Bundle Monster BM-H07 (thumb) and Chez Halloween 004.  Stamping polishes are MdU 52, 53 and 60.

Added a few dots for filler and interest.

Top coated to finish.

Here's the other ladies Orange, Purple and Green mani's!

Have a great weekend; thanks for looking!

Go! Blue Jays! Go!

I don't think I've ever seen so much baseball on our tv as the last couple of months but the hubs anyway sure has been watching every game!  We'll be watching the game today and now that it's down to the wire for The Blue Jays, thought I should finally do a "Support the Jays" mani just in case it's their last game today as I've been meaning to do one for a while now but haven't gotten around it it .........but I'm confident it won't be their last game as they are going to take the World Series!  Go, Jays, Go!

Started with a base of two coats of OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls, top coated.

Stamped using assortment of plates; BM-414 (ring), UberChic Sports Fan-01 (thumb and index), MJ IV (pinky) and Nailways Back to the Basics 123 ABC (middle) using MdU 4 and 23 and FUN red.  The images on the Uber Chic plate are too big for my nails; I had to do the stamper shrinking method on the thumb and it's still a tight fit.  I should also point out that I used the clear jelly stamper for the letter placement on the middle finger; what fantastic results!  I would never be able to place the letters so well without it...believe me, I've already tried this before lol.

UberChic Sports Fan-01

BundleMonster BM-414

Added baseball to index, then topped with Girly Bits What a Rush QD TC to finish.

Sadly, sports images are lacking on stamping plates; UberChic Sports Fan-01 is a start, recognizing that there are a few other images out there on other plates but not many.  I do hope there are more images coming!  Even though you might not necessary be cheering for the Jays, at least someone might get some inspiration from these!

GO! JAYS! GO!
