Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving to anyone celebrating today!  These were the nails I was wearing on Thanksgiving Day back in October which is when us Canadians celebrate giving thanks.

Started with a base of skittles; polishes used starting at thumb and going clockwise are OPI Life Gave Me Lemons, Essie So Racy, Essence Wake Up!, Sally Hansen Butterscotch and Revlon Hot For Chocolate; all two coats; shown with top coat.

I made a stamper decal from my favourite Thanksgiving image, Infinity 65.  I used acrylic paints; I tried to do some shading on the leaves, squash and pumpkin using darker complimentary colours; not sure how successful this was lol!

Applied stamper decal to the thumb, then stamped using Bundle Monster BM-H11 (index and pumpkin on pinky) and Messy Mansion MM23 (middle and ring).  I used the clear jelly stamper to place the images on the middle and ring fingers; it works so awesome for things like this!

Top coated to finish.  There was some drag from the top coat brush; it took me a few mani's to figure out what was causing it but it was a faulty brush; I just exchanged it with an empty bottle) and added a little white to the middle fingers. My brush work needs practise as you can see lol!

Happy Thanksgiving!

I'm A Baby by CANVAS lacquer

I have another polish from the CANVAS lacquer Broad City collection to share; this is I'm A Baby by CANVAS lacquer**!

Started with a base of two coats of I'm A Baby by CANVAS lacquer, no top coat.

I'm A Baby by CANVAS lacquer is a gorgeous heather purple holo with gold micro flecks; this goes so well with my fall (and winter) wardrobe, that I've wore it several times already.

The next night, my daughter came home and said this polish is so pretty but especially in the sun; it sparkles so much!

I didn't want to cover the polish very much so stamped using an image from Apipila Super Placa B using Funky Fingers Gesso, which left lots of space for the polish to shine through.

I loved how this turned out but wanted a bit more zip to it; wasn't sure what I wanted to do with it so added a few iridescent stones.

But didn't go for that look; they were just placed on to see if I liked the look of them.  I couldn't decide what to do so just top coated to finish using Girly Bits What A Rush QD TC.

After I finished, I thought that this polish would look great stamped with silver.  The next day, using the clear jelly stamper, double stamped using Sally Hansen Celeb City using the same image.  If this doesn't convince every stamper to go order a clear stamper, I don't know what will!  So easy to line up exactly where you want the stamping to go; I was easily able to line up the silver stamping in the voids in perfect alignment!  I never would have been able to do this with the non clear kind.  It didn't show up that well unless the lighting conditions was dim; a better choice might have been a silver chrome...but there's always next time.

My teenaged daughter seen me putting it on the night I was putting this mani on, and she decided it was her next mani too....that's why the first initial polishes have the CANVAS lacquer bottle but no more....because she took off with the bottle to put it on!

I'm a Baby by CANVAS lacquer is available via their Etsy shop here; they offer international shipping!

40 Great Nail Art Ideas Does Grey + Colour

I've been good at getting my nails done for these Friday challenges but haven't been that successful in getting them posted on time; hopefully this will change soon!  This weeks 40 Great Nail Art Ideas theme is Grey and a colour; my added prompt was Ikat.  This is what I came up with!

Started with a base of two coats of YSL Gris Underground, no topcoat.

Added a coat of Girly Bits What A Rush QD TC before stamping.

(Most awkward bottle pose everrrrrr!)

Stamped with an image from VL-04 using Funky Fingers Gesso. (You may notice I switched from using the YSL bottle; just doesn't work for bottle hand posing lol.)

Did lead lighting with 10.1 Polish Lemon Cupcake.

I have never done Ikat before; so had to Google it; this was the mani used for my inspiration; photo credit to shutterstock.com

Finished it off with a final coat of Girly Bits What A Rush QD TC.

Here's the other ladies Grey + Colour mani's with all the different prompts!  (They have it as "Grey + Color" but to me, it should be "Gray + Colour"; while I can live with the Grey, I can't live with Color! Maybe I should have reworded it "Gray + Colour; the Canadian version lol.

Val About Town by CANVAS lacquer

More sweater nails as the temperatures are dropping and snow is in the forecast!  Today's mani features Val About Town by CANVAS lacquer**.

Val About Town by CANVAS lacquer is a gorgeous salmon with a delicate hint of gold shimmer, shown with two coats, no topcoat.

While I have a lot of peach and coral polishes, I don't have a colour like this in my stash. Application and coverage was good; no issues to report.

A rare macro to see the gold shimmer better!

Topped with a coat of Girly Bits What A Rush QD TC before stamping.

Stamped using Mundo de Unas 33 using MoYou Festive Collection-06 with an accent of Born Pretty BP-L018.  I love how the grey and salmon look together!

Topped with Girly Bits What a Rush QD TC to finish.

Born Pretty BP-L018.

Not your typical colours for sweater nails but if you know me, you know I try to think outside of the box every now and then!  I love how this turned out!

CANVAS lacquer is available via their Etsy shop here.  Based out of Toronto, Ontario, they offer international shipping to select countries.

Sweater Nails!

A fairly new to me indie brand that I recently discovered thanks to review by Wondrously Polished, is Top Shelf Lacquer.  When I had been browsing Pinterest looking for inspiration for the theme last week, I came across a picture that I thought I could use.  I had more inspiration than nails for the theme but when I sat down to do my nails a couple nights ago, I remembered the pix I had seen on Pinterest and decided to do sweater nails, picking a perfect polish from Top Shelf Lacquer as the base.  This is what I came up with!

Started with three coats of Top Shelf Lacquer Blue Lagoon, no top coat.  Two coats gave good coverage except a little thin at tips probably from my application.  As I'm not a fan of VNL on me, added a third thin coat to make sure opaque.

Added a layer of Girly Bits What A Rush QD TC before stamping.

Stamped using MoYou Festive Collection-06 with Funky Fingers Gesso.

Finished with another coat of Girly Bits What A Rush QD TC.  I had visions that this was going to be another polish that the stamping polish changed colours from polish bleed through but was thrilled that the stamping stayed white as snow.  I can also let you know that there was no nail or skin staining when this was removed which can be concerning with blues sometimes.

Here's the pix on Pinterest that I used for inspiration.

Digit-al Dozen Does Inspired by Pinterest; Day 5

This is a dual purpose mani for Digit-al Dozen inspired by Pinterest as well as 40 Great Nail Art Ideas but am late in posting as they should have been posted yesterday.  I did have them done but no time to post with work yesterday, then plans for dinner and a night out last night then heading out of town first thing this morning.  So Saturday night it is.  Better late then never as the saying does.  Here's what I came up with!

The pix from Pinterest; credit to My Campus.

Started with a sponged gradient using Nicole by OPI Hit the Lights, Dare to Wear Strawberry Mousse, Dare to Wear Wild Berry and Kiara Sky Ms Behaved.

Added a coat of Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Shake Shake.

Stamped using Bundle Monster BM-414 using FunkyFingers Dark Knight.

Topped with Girly Bits What A Rush QD TC to finish.

Thought the glitter might be a little bit more visible matte, so added a coat of Girly Bits Polish Matte'rs, which is how I left it and have wearing for the last few days.

Here's the other ladies Day 5 Inspired by Pinterest nails.

Digit-al Dozen Does Inspired by Pinterest; Day 4

This mani is inspired by a picture I seen on Pinterest (somewhat) as well as the base inspiration from Amanda Loves Polish of Facebook with her picture here (hopefully that link works; I couldn't find the nails on her blog.)  Amanada had done a mani with Enchanted Candy Taffy and Rainbow Juice with Pulp! that I absolutely loved but unfortunately, I don't have either one of those polishes.  But I did use it for the basis of my inspiration for this mani; here's what I came up with!

Pinterest inspiration.

Pinterest indicated this was pinned from craftymorning.com so photo credit to them!

Started with a base of two coats of Nicole by OPI Baby Blue; this is with no top coat.

Added layer of Elevation Polish LE Stone Warrior.

Topped with Girly Bits What A Rush QD TC before stamping.

I didn't want to hid the base polishes too much so decided to stamp using an image from UberChic UC3-03 using Funky Fingers Gesso.
