Dance Legend Heroes

Hopefully you've had a good weekend; it's hard to believe Monday is just a few short hours away!  I've been trying to do some stamping with colours other than black and white; this is one I came up with not too long ago!

Started with a base of two coats Dance Legend Heroes 12 from the Military Collection.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly On Top.

I randomly dotted MdU 42 and 80, then double scraped the image to get some good intermixing using an image  from BM-418.

This is Ms. Cindy aka my test hand. I was testing Mdu 42 and 80 to see which one I liked better.  It was only when I did my other hand that I even thought to mix them together as I couldn't decide which colour I liked best!

Colourful Snowflakes

There is nary a snowflake in the sky today!  In fact, the temperature might reach a record breaking high as it is to soar to at a balmy 18F/65C which is pretty warm for a February in Ontario! We've had these fairly mild temperatures for a few days now; in fact, the hubs was sporting flip flops and shorts when we were out on Sunday and it wasn't even as warm as today....and he wasn't the only one!  But I did these back when we did have snow as I had planned on sharing for the Digit-al Dozen December challenge but ended up sharing others instead.  Here's what I came up with!

Started with a base of textured skittles; starting at thumb:  L'Oreal Indigo Classic, Sally Hansen Sugar Coat Razzle-Berry, Sally Hansen Sugar Coat Gummy Grape, L'Oreal Skinny Jeans and Sally Hansen Sugar Coat Spare-A-Mint.

Stamped all fingers using Delaney Hiver A001 except ring finger which was MR-01.

It's suppose to get a little cooler over the next few days...and I'm sure the hubs and anyone else who was stupid enough to be out in shorts and sandals will be sick!  I need to see some flakes anyway as I have at least 2 other snowflake nails I haven't shared yet...it seems I did a lot of them this winter lol!

Shadow Stamped Roses

I don't do shadow stamping that often as the few times I've tried it, I've failed at lining up the images well and either stamped so far off it's a stretch to be a shadow or exactly on the image and then no shadow at all. It never fails; I go to stamp and just as I press down, the stamper takes on a life of it's own and moves a few millimeters one way or the other and messes up the stamping!  But I did these bright nails right after Digit-al Dozen black week as looking for something a little brighter and didn't do too bad of a job with the shadow stamping this time so thought I would share!  This is what I came up with!

A few polishes that I had my eye at Harlow & Co. were stocked; I knew I wanted to try this Polished For Days Akitla as soon as it arrived; this is two coats, no top coat.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Stamped with an image from Marianne Nails Professional n.11 using FunkyFingers Gesso.  This is all I had initially planned to stamp on my nails but it was just looking too plain to me.

So did the double stamping using same image with El Corazon Kaleidoscope 28 which I think was a better decision then leaving it plain.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top to finish.

Decided to add a coat of OPI matte.

I really liked how this turned out; kind of antique or vintage looking...like one would find on old wallpaper except maybe it's just a bit too bright! I also think something along these lines might be cool with some cherry blossom stamping when spring arrives!

Happy Family Day!!

It's Family Day here in Ontario and a long weekend too! I've been spending most of the long weekend visiting family and just hanging out with family!  I did these nails last night!

Started with a base of one coat of Essie GoWith The Flowy! then did a sponged gradient using Nicole By OPI Hit The Lights, Summer Brights Coral and Essie All The Wave.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Stamped using FunkyFingers Dark Knight using images from MdU Valentine's 3.

Digit-al Dozen Does Black; Day 5

It's the last day of Digit-al Dozen week with the challenge of black!  I did something totally black; however, this is a fail to me on many levels but I wanted to try to stay true to the theme at least for one mani!  Here's what I came up with!

Started with a base of two coats of Sally Hansen Big Smoky Topcoat; this is three coats.  A couple comments; I think it applies way nicer with no base. I had applied my regular Duri Rejuvenate and even though lots of time had passed for it to dry, the top coat still applied patchy.  Also, three coats is probably too many for good contrast with the stamping; I did two on Ms. Cindy (aka my test hand) and the contrast is better its just I can't stand VNL on me so did three in an attempt to cover it.  And the attempt still failed as you can see below....

Stamped using FunkyFingers Dark Knight using an image from Chez Feerique 002.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top to finish.

Ms. Cindy with two coats; I think the contrast is nicer between the base and stamping.

I really wasn't feeling this too much, so decided to add a coat of OPI Matte.  It was 'OK' but still not my favourite by any means.

When all else fails, add dots!  Still not a great fan of how they turned out but the dots made them wearable at least!  I think I may have liked these better with a black french tip too; just something about VNL on me that I'm not a fan of!

Hopefully you have enjoyed the black challenge this month!  I can say I can now wear something a little bit brighter....even though I wasn't all black all week!  It's still a lot of dark nails for this brights lover!

Digit-al Dozen Does Black; Day 4

If you've been checking out the Digit-al Dozen posts (and hopefully you have been!), you will have seen some pretty amazing mani's using black!  I think I've used more colour in my mani's than most and have been super surprised with what they have come up with using mainly just black.  Yes, there has been some colour added here and there but there has also been some great mani's using just black or shades of black or mainly black.  Kudos to all the ladies!  I did these nails Monday night and tried to use just black...and still couldn't do it!  But no bright colours anyway; here's what I came up with!

Started with a base of two coats of OPI Black Onyx, no top coat.  This actually isn't what I had intended; I wanted to do a grey accent nail and then have black stamping on top of it to change it up a little but I was concentrating so hard on applying the black to avoid cleanup and flooding that I painted my accent nail before I knew it!  Well, that and singing along to some awesome music at the time but I got distracted!  I just decided to go with it anyway!  But it kinda ticked me off because I took so long searching my stash for the perfectly matching polish to match the stamping polish!

Topped with a coat of KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Stamped using MdU 34 using an image from Marianne Nails n.100.  Roses because, hey, it's Valentine's week even if we have a theme of black!

I did my test hand the right way...or at least what I had planned out anyway so decided to polish over the accent nail anyway using Barry M Grey, then stamped using same image using FunkyFingers Dark Knight, then topped with top coat.  I think the little change up just gives it a little added interest...for a many that is pretty boring otherwise lol!  And see, the base polish matches the stamping polish so well which is what I had planned!  I love when this happens!

Digit-al Dozen Does Black; Day 3

These are the coolest nails I've done in a while..... to me, anyway!  They were suppose to be off beat Valentine's Day nails but I decided to share as part of Digit-al Dozen week with the theme of black instead. With it being so close to Vday, they are still relevant anyway!  But I do think these could be worn any time of the year because honestly, do hearts or skittles ever go out of season?  Here's what I came up with!

This is my second ever smooshy stamper mani...I actually did these a few days after my first smooshy when I thought skittle smooshies might be cool.

It took me longer to pick out all the polishes than actually do the smooshy!  Here they all are sorted by colour; there were so many, I didn't make note of them, sorry.  Just tried to get light, medium and dark shades of blue, yellow, pink, purple and green with the mandatory add of white for some contrast interest.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top before stamping.  So cool; I could use this is a base for so many different stamping images!  This will be my go faux water marbling look as I have no skill in water marbling lol!

Stamped using an image from Kelly Negri KN12 using FunkyFingers Gesso.

I actually thought the above nails were pret-ty cool but decided to do some double stamping as I was doing Vday mani's at the time I did these and was in a Valentine's state of mind!  Picked a heart from MoYou Pro 09 and stamped in the middle of each nail (well, as best as I could; still not perfect even with clear stamper!)

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top to finish.  I'm terribly sorry; I don't have a great pix of this as there's either lots of top coat glare or the pix was fuzzy.  Hopefully you can still see how cool this was!

Not as much glare but not the clearest :(
